I don't know what's worse: The sloppy photo edit or the fact that the art director let it go.
You're invited to check Photoshop Disasters, where a similarly wretched example of what untrained or sloppy people can do with state-of-the-art software is posted approximately daily.

'...what untrained or sloppy people can do with state-of-the-art software...' Like correct your 25 percent failure rate of a four-missile salvo launch? :)
I'm more anxious about what well-trained and meticulous people can do with state-of-the-art software.

I'm worried too, but after watching the adventures of Flat Fatima, I'm pretty sure Reuters doesn't have any well-trained Photoshop artists.
Perhaps we needn't worry about it until there's no longer any bad p-shop in ads? When all the high-paying jobs are filled, maybe there'll be a glut of skilled p-shop artists for the media to exploit.
